We are happy to inform you that Attorney Andria Oaks at our firm is now a trained Guardian Ad Litem. A Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is a trained attorney who is appointed by the court to represent and protect the best interest of the child.
What a GAL does:
In some cases, a GAL is needed to conduct independent investigation to assist the court in determining the best interest of the child. Such investigation may include conducting a home visit, interview family, review school and medical records, and speak with the child’s teachers. All of this is done so that the GAL can properly investigate the child’s situation and give a recommendation to the court regarding the custody of the child. The report and recommendation to the court is an independent assessment of the child’s situation.
Attorney Oaks is very passionate about advocating for children. She believes that all children have a right to live in a safe environment and be surrounded by people that help them thrive.
