He followed in his father’s footsteps as he was also previously in the commercial business industry since a very young age as the Operations Manager for Sun City Installations, one of the first Tribal Owned Small Businesses in the west Texas region for 7 years. In year one as Operations Manager, Rudy procured close to $5M in government contracts alone for the small business. Rudy has built relationships at all levels of government establishing a strong business platform of partners. Rudy was elected to serve on the Tribal Council in 2014 and currently serves on the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo (YDSP) Tribal Council which is the duly constituted traditional governing body of the Tribe exercising all inherent governmental power, fiscal authority and tribal sovereignty. Rudy Cruz is impassioned about strategizing community and economic growth for his community. He assisted in the establishment of national, local and commercial contracts which included maintenance and operations of federal buildings and U.S. This position also entailed the oversight and growth of other contractual services such as the contract to provide the Sargent Major’s Academy training and certifications. Additional responsibilities included ensuring the services that Tigua, Inc. provides are in accordance with federal procurement rules under the U.S. Federal Acquisition Regulations and the Office of Management and Budgets requirements. One of the most recent projects that Rudy acquired was the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Health Care and Ambulatory Clinic which will be a monumental construction build on Tribal Land with its modern-cultural design which is estimated to be in the area of $47M. Rudy has been involved from pre-design and will continue to assist YDSP staff in managing the project through its finish date. Rudy has fostered new businesses and contracts that spearheaded the company and the tribe forward and has been instrumental in marketing Tigua, Inc. to potential customers and the creation of new contracts and services. In addition to market and product expansion, his goal is to pe*****te the El Paso region in order to create more jobs for Tribal members. Rudy has played a key role in the continued development of relationships that helped grow the Tribe’s business and strategies to respond to an increasingly demanding marketplace. In addition to working federal contracts, as a Tribal Councilman, Mr. Cruz is looking for ways to prevent economic leakage and find sustainable jobs for Tribal citizens. In its quest to serve its clients and boost contracts, Tigua, Inc. has a multi-faceted plan that hinges on identifying all that the Tribe has to offer while raising the voice of tribally-owned companies.
