Colorado kids getting the best of Sitka-sunny days, time on the boat, small town 4th of July parade, beach critters held and identified to name a few and then ending the week with family photos as a final send off.

This is Annie. And her pet lamb, Susie. Oh, and her small flock of sheep that wander the road around her home on a remote peninsula of Scotland (population 150).

What started as a minute walk trespassing down a driveway to get so close to some sheep, ended in meeting the sweetest local and her inviting me into her courtyard because of my admiration of her fluffy friends. She told me all about how Susie had been abandoned so she took her in to care for her because otherwise she wouldn’t have survived. We’re talking living in her home and bottle fed. That turned into discussing animals, travel, sports, politics, work, etc. Oh, and turns out she used to photograph weddings as a side hustle so we even talked business! She was so easy to talk to and 45 minutes later we decided it best to go on our way.

What a gift it is to be able to travel, not only to be witness to beautiful landscapes and architecture and culture. But to talk with, learn from, and laugh with people on the other side of the world. We have so much to gain from connecting with others, not just recognizing what is different but finding common ground too.

Daniel and Daniel (yes, you read that correctly!) These two were nonstop laughs the entire session despite a downpour, which really was quite comical. Nothing was going to rain on their parade…I mean proposal :)

Just the newlyweds, their pup Spud, tucked into the forest with a waterfall and the alder tree meadow. Sometimes giving yourselves a little extra time is the best wedding gift you can give each other.

Some of my favorite photos happen when kids are just allowed to be kids. Running through tall grass, picking wildflowers, chasing the last bit of sunlight, and keeping mom on her toes. The giggles, the chaos, the hand-holding, the hugs—these are the moments they’ll remember someday. It feels a little like bottling up childhood before it slips away.

Mother’s Day mini sessions were a little postponed and visited by the rain but nothing could stop these smiles.

Mother and daughter dancing in the rain together. The simplest things are often the best.
