A pre-surgical psychological evaluation may be a requirement of both one’s surgeon and one’s insurance company.  The evaluation is designed to assess one’s emotional, mental, and physical preparedness for a life-changing surgery. 
The evaluation’s goal is to promote patient safety and improve outcomes.  The evaluation helps to identify potential post-surgical complications and potential interpersonal and emotional challenges that may arise.  The report will make any necessary recommendations for support that may be helpful after surgery.
