This Lawsuit Is About More Than the Death of Dogs

Many people believe this lawsuit is only about the dogs who were killed.

It isn’t.

It’s about dogs like Kona, who sat in his kennel suffering from two dislocated kneecaps. Every step was painful, yet instead of receiving treatment, he was scheduled to be euthanized.

It’s about dogs like Gangsta, who was found as a stray with a dislocated hip and ruptured eye. Rather than receive the veterinary care he desperately needed, he too was scheduled to be euthanized.

It’s about dogs like Sadie, whose skin condition was so severe that her skin was dry, inflamed, and bleeding. She spent her days trembling in her kennel while suffering from a condition that required veterinary treatment, yet received virtually no meaningful care.

And it’s about dogs like Jarbi.

When we rescued Jarbi, we discovered he had a severely infected canine tooth. The infection had become so advanced that it had spread into the bone. According to the rescue coordinator, Jarbi had never been examined because the shelter did not have a veterinarian. We ultimately spent more than $5,000 removing the tooth and treating the infection. He remained on antibiotics for months, and it took over six months for the infection to fully resolve.

Think about that.

A dog suffering from a painful dental infection so severe it infected the bone, yet nobody addressed it.

These dogs weren’t beyond help.

They weren’t suffering from untreatable conditions.

They needed medical care, compassion, and a chance.

Instead, they were left to suffer.

This lawsuit is about more than Cinnamon, Georgia, and Cora.

It’s about every dog that sat in a kennel in pain while those responsible for their care failed to act.

It’s about accountability.

It’s about ensuring shelters provide the veterinary care animals are entitled to receive.

It’s about making sure future dogs don’t endure the same neglect.

We’ve spent more than $120,000 pursuing this fight because these animals mattered.

Kona mattered.

Gangsta mattered.

Sadie mattered.

Jarbi mattered.

And every dog that suffered in silence mattered.

Please help us continue fighting for accountability, justice, and the dogs who cannot speak for themselves.

🐾 Because justice isn’t just about the dogs we lost. It’s about protecting the dogs we can still save. 🐾💔

The lack of donations to fight for dogs like Sadie is completely heartbreaking. The law requires these shelters to provide care for dogs like her. Unfortunately, most put the burden on rescues. And when rescued don’t have the funds, they kill them
