How to Bump Up Your Confidence By the End of the Year (from Your Bo***ir Photographer Who's Rebuilding Hers Too đ)
Hey beautiful,
Iâm writing this with messy mom buns, breastmilk stains on my shirt, and a heart thatâs learning how to love this new version of myselfâagain. If we havenât met yet, Iâm Kerrin, a bo***ir photographer who lives to hype women up and capture the kind of raw, magnetic confidence that can change lives. But lately? Iâve been on my own journey of rebuilding. Postpartum has humbled me, cracked me open, and slowly, beautifully, is putting me back together.
So if you're feeling a little lost in your skin, unsure of your power, or just plain blahâI want you to know this: you are NOT alone. And by the end of this year?
Weâre going to shift that energy together.
Hereâs how to bump up your confidence by New
Yearâs Eve, from someone whoâs literally doing it right along with you:
1. Talk to Yourself Like Someone You Love
Catch those critical thoughts before they take root. Would you say that stuff to your best friend? Your daughter? No? Then donât say it to yourself. Try this: stand in front of the mirror once a day and say something kind, even if it feels awkward. (Today I told myself: âYou are powerful, even when youâre tired.â)
2. Romanticize the Heck Out of Your Life
Light the candle. Play the playlist. Put on the red lipstick even if youâre just unloading the dishwasher. I started dressing up for myself again, even just around the house, and itâs wild how much it reminds me that Iâm still me. You are not a background characterâyou're the main event, baby!
3. Say Yes to the Shoot (or the Scary Thing!)
You do not need to âlose the weightâ or âfixâ anything to deserve beautiful photos, experiences, or joy. Book the shoot. Say yes to the adventure. The confidence doesnât come beforeâit shows up because you did the scary thing. Every woman whoâs walked into my studio nervous and left glowing is proof.
4. Celebrate What Your Body Does
My body grew a human. Yours might run marathons, hug your people tight, or dance in the kitchen. It deserves so much love for everything it does for you, not just how it looks. I started thanking my body out loudâ"Thank you for carrying me. Thank you for healing. Thank you for showing up." Try it. Itâs powerful.
5. Take the Damn Photos
I knowâcoming from a bo***ir photographer, this might sound biased. But hereâs the truth: photos are not about vanity. Theyâre about visibility. Being willing to see yourself is radical. Iâve been photographing myself in little momentsâmessy, beautiful, breastfeeding, crying, laughing. Itâs all valid. Itâs all you.
Try this: Snap a selfie when youâre feeling good⌠and one when youâre not. Keep both. Youâre whole. Youâre human. Youâre worthy in every state.
6. Create Before You Consume
Write. Dance. Paint. Snap selfies. Reclaim your creativity. I started shooting self-portraits againâeven on tired, messy daysâjust to remember what it feels like to be seen. Creating is healing. Let it be messy. Let it be yours.
7. Track Your GrowthâNot Just Your Goals
Every time you do something that feels brave, write it down. Confidence builds like compound interest: little deposits of courage add up. That time you wore the crop top? That moment you said no without guilt? Celebrate it. Youâre doing more than you think.
You are not behind. You are not broken. You are becoming.
By the end of this year, you could be standing in front of your own camera (or mine!), laughing with your whole body, falling in love with yourself in real-time.
Confidence isnât about perfection. Itâs about coming home to yourself.
And if youâre on that journey too, just knowâIâm walking right beside you. Messy bun, stretchy pants, camera in hand, heart wide open.
Youâve got this. Letâs glow up together. â¤ď¸
