During Medicare Fraud Prevention Week, we're encouraging older adults, people with disabilities, family members, and caregivers to stay alert and take a few simple steps to protect themselves:

- Review your Medicare statements regularly
- Never share your Medicare number with unknown callers or solicitors
- Be cautious of offers for "free" medical equipment or services
- Report suspicious activity immediately

Protecting Medicare helps ensure these vital benefits remain available for those who need them most.

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) remind us that beneficiaries and their families are the first line of defense against fraud. If something doesn't seem right, trust your instincts and ask questions.
