Child justice is dedicated to ensuring a child’s right to be legally PROTECTED from an abusive parent. We work with well-respected law firms to provide legal services that protect children “lost in the system” after exposure to family violence, physical and/or sexual abuse, substance addictions or neglect. Pro Bono attorneys working with Child Justice provide abuse victims with highly skilled lega
l services for lower court and appellate court cases. These free legal services help to keep children out of the hands of their abusers. Child Justice advocates for children who have been abused or witnessed domestic violence. We PROVIDE SUPPORT to them and their protective parents. We also work with non-offending, protective parents in civil family law cases where the child (or children) have been physically, sexually, emotionally abused or neglected and who may have experienced domestic abuse. Studies show that accused or adjudicated batterers often seek (and receive) sole or joint custody in contested child custody and access cases. Child Justice PROMOTES CHANGE through community outreach, education and policy recommendations. Our team regularly provides testimony during committee hearings in the Maryland House and Senate. We advocate for changes in the law to protect our most vulnerable children. Child Justice receives requests from protective parents in a variety of ways including via phone calls, emails, Facebook or other social media. If you need help, please contact us. At this time, our cases are limited to the State of Maryland since our funding is provided by the Victims of Crime Act through the Maryland Governor's Office on Crime Control and Prevention. We recognize the need for legal services is an enormous unmet need in cases of child abuse and domestic violence where custody and access are at issue. Our hope is that more organizations like Child Justice will be founded and that more family law attorneys and leading corporate law firms will take cases pro bono. If your case is outside of Maryland, we may be able to provide a referral. Support our work by making a tax-deductible donation here on Facebook, or by visiting: https://bit.ly/CJI-donation.
