One of the questions I get asked most often is, “How do you pose newborn babies?”

The answer is simple: training, experience, patience, and safety always come first.

As a newborn photographer, I never stop learning. Newborn photography requires specialized training, hands-on experience, and a deep understanding of baby safety. Before photographers ever work with a real newborn, I always recommend practicing with a baby doll and investing in one-on-one education with experienced newborn photographers who specialize in safe posing techniques.

During my newborn sessions, baby safety is always my number one priority. Depending on the collection my clients choose, I may have an assistant helping throughout the session. If an assistant is not included, one of the parents will assist me. I carefully guide them every step of the way and explain exactly how to support their baby safely during posing.

These tiny babies trust us completely, and that responsibility is something I never take lightly.

As a full-service newborn photography studio in Silver Spring, Maryland, we provide everything needed for your session, including wraps, outfits, props, headbands, bonnets, backdrops, and styling. Our goal is to create a stress-free experience so parents can simply relax and enjoy watching their baby’s first professional portraits come to life.

We also offer in-home newborn photography sessions throughout Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and surrounding areas for families who prefer the comfort of their own home.

Newborn sessions are best scheduled during pregnancy and photographed within the first 2-3 weeks after birth.
