nt. The child is brought by a family member or caring adult other than the alleged offender. There a trained professional meets with the child and conducts a Forensic Interview to obtain crucial information. This is done in a child friendly setting with age appropriate, non-leading questions. After the interview, Law Enforcement and the District Attorneys office continues the criminal investigation and possible prosecution. The Department of Child and Family Services continues their component of the investigation regarding the child's safety and determines if the child is able to return home or must be placed in another location. Throughout this process, the Gingerbread House offers Family Advocacy and Counseling to the child. Community education presentations for children and adults are also available upon request. All services are provided free of charge.
