After mastectomy breast cancer survivors are left without areolas and nipples, often without soft breast mounds or implants; leaving blank breasts and flat chests with nothing but scars and the constant negative reminder of what was, before cancer, before surgery. The areola itself, is the circle of colored skin that rings the nipple (areola’s and nipples are two anatomically different body parts)
