Combine the precision of paper piecing with improvisation to create a disintegrating effect! Using the Radial Geese pattern in this class, you’ll learn tools to apply a disintegrating effect to other paper piecing patterns in the future. We’ll also discuss other ways of incorporating the idea of disintegration or deconstruction into your quilts. Some paper piecing experience is recommended for this class.

One Pattern, Two Interpretations.
“Sea Glass Shells” by Katie Sprugel
Katie has long been drawn to the beauty of seashells and sea glass. When she discovered Shoreline Shells, the Block of the Month pattern by Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill of Whole Circle Studio, she knew she had to make it. Each shell is made from 55 to 215 pieces, adding up to more than 1,500 pieces in the quilt.

“Tidal Pool” by Pat Reilly
Pat was instantly captivated by Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill's design. Inspired by her fascination with tidal pools, she embraced the challenge of sewing "an incredible amount of pieces, both large and minuscule." The result? A quilt she found well worth the time and effort.

QA members had a great time last month in a “Free Improv Piecing” workshop with Sarah Hibbert (https://www.sarahhibbertquilts.com/) Sarah was an engaging and energetic teacher and her exercise where you had to use whichever piece of fabric your hand pulled out of a hidden pile unleased all kinds of creativity! Thanks Sarah for a fun & inspiring day!
