Weekends feature intensive workshops for musicians during the daytime, relaxing jam sessions, mini-classes offered by students and staff, evening concerts and dances shared with the local community and special programs which are distinctive to each weekend. I am realizing that many of our Upper Potomac students have not met Armand Aromin, who will be teaching Irish fiddle and some other things at the weekend. I met him at Ashokan this summer, where he was teaching with his partner, Ben in the Vox Hunters. Here's a concert video from the Old Songs festival where you can see/hear him play and sing and get an idea of just how great he is. I hope to have a pub sing this year, and maybe a step down... where he and Tessa Dillon teach and share clog steps during our Saturday night dance. He does great stuff with harmonies and microtones. Enjoy the tunes.
