🦋 Your thyroid controls your metabolism, energy, body temperature, mood, and so much more. When it's off, everything feels off.
Did you know your thyroid doesn't operate in isolation? 🤔
It's regulated by your nervous system. 🧠⚡
The thyroid gland receives direct nerve supply from the upper cervical spine — specifically C3, C4, and C5. When there's subluxation (misalignment and nerve interference) in this region, communication between your brain and thyroid can become disrupted. Your thyroid may under- or over-produce hormones not because the gland itself is broken, but because the signal telling it what to do is compromised.
Additionally:
➡️ Chronic stress (sympathetic dominance) can suppress thyroid hormone conversion 😣
➡️ Poor vagal tone can affect the gut-thyroid axis 🦠➡️🦋
➡️ Spinal tension in the thoracic region can impact lymphatic drainage around the thyroid 🔄
✨ What we see in practice:
Patients who come in for neck pain or fatigue often report improvements in how they feel over time with consistent chiropractic care. While we don't treat thyroid conditions, supporting healthy nervous system function may help the body regulate itself more effectively. 🙌
If you're managing hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, or feel like your thyroid is "off" despite normal labs, your nervous system is worth looking at. 💙
