Free is the New Normal

Hot take- We have lost something in this non judgment hyper grace process. When I was a kid our Pastor - Ted Nissen - He said in a sermon one time that if you don’t like the church and don’t enjoy what the church is about you really won’t like heaven. It was quite a statement at the time. He didn’t say it mean and he didn’t think it as being critical. He was the sweetest man I’ve ever known and a huge encourager. But today we would never see that sort of what I would call “swagger”. There is a confidence that leaders in the American church have lost and the people after them. It has caused extreme confusion.for the flock. It seems our leaders today are trying to look humble and compassionate- good goal!- but the way it’s received is weak in unsure which is effecting the faith of them and the flock around them which in turn kills the flock and losses leadership. I’m not sure the answer but I have moved into an international church setting and leadership does not have the same struggle. It’s seemingly not a biblical thing of how we are leading but more cultural. We might need to learn a lot from our international brothers here.
