School has finished for the year (unless it is a year-round schedule), the temperatures are warming up, and the pools/parks are open - summer is here (or nearly here). Picnics are another summer tradition whether it's a work/school/church picnic, or just fun with family and friends.
Here we have the American Range Corporation Employee Annual Picnic from 1925 (Shakopee) and some children from the St. Lawrence School on a picnic in Belle Plaine circa 1912-1915.

Today is National Softball Day. We don't have much for softball items in our collection, and most of our softball-related collection items are pictures from yearbooks, but here are a few 3D objects. The first is a 1970s jersey donated by Dan Steil and the second is a letterman's jacket from Shakopee High School which belonged to a 1989 graduate who lettered two years in softball.

We are just 1 week away from our BIG summer fun announcement, that the Scott County Historical Society and us have joined together for! Stay tuned 😁
🤫Here's a hint- stories aren't found in books—they're hidden in the places we pass every day.
