From Pasture Walk to Classroom Talk: Extension Adapts to Keep Producers Learning
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System successfully hosted a Pasture W**d Management Program in Camden, Alabama, on June 18, 2026. Originally planned as an outdoor pasture w**d walk, the program was moved indoors due to the weather conditions. Dr. David Russell, Alabama Extension State W**d Specialist, adapted the program by presenting research-based information on pasture w**d identification, control strategies, and other valuable information.
Hosted by the Jackson family at their historic farm, formerly the site of Auburn University's Lower Coastal Plain Experiment Station, the event also highlighted the region's agricultural research legacy. Extension expressed appreciation to the Jackson family for hosting and to Mr. Darren McGilberry of South Land Company for sponsoring refreshments, snacks, and delicious sliders for attendees.
