Cancer research is being eliminated by the current administration. All cancer research is now in trouble. Heaven help us all!!!
The Melanoma Research Program (MRP) has been discontinued. According to the House report released today detailing the FY26 Defense Appropriations Act, the Melanoma Research Program has been eliminated, and melanoma is once again part of the Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP), competing with numerous other cancers for research funding. The MRP was established in FY19, and not only guaranteed dedicated funding for melanoma research, but incorporated disease-specific language into the bill, and subsequently into the chambers. This is a significant step backwards.
