A love letter from Knack ❤
Friends, Family, and Client Partners,
On this day of love, we are reflecting on the past two years. We set out to transform an industry by challenging old frameworks that have long been serving only a select, privileged community. We are righting centuries of cultural mistakes by working to design, manage, and influence equitable systems for all.
While we have made incredible progress guided by these values, this week we learned that in the US, only 0.1% of creative agencies are founded by womxn.
This statistic is shocking and only serves to deepen our commitment to reimagine and reinvent the creative agency status quo. As we allow more diverse thinking to thrive, we improve the quality of the work we deliver for our clients, while at the same time providing a larger, farther-reaching positive impact on our employees’ experience at work.

This year, we prioritized hiring people from a variety of identities, ethnicities, and backgrounds. To do this, we removed all educational requirements from our job descriptions and we enabled flexibility to work when, where, and however much was best for them, opening opportunity to working moms, caregivers, and remote talent. Today, we are proud that 88% of our agency ecosystem is womxn, 32% people of color, and over 34% of our workforce is remote.
Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion was also foundational to the project success we delivered for our clients, with campaigns in over 42 countries influencing over $200M in revenue. This commitment also fueled our own business growth, increasing our revenue 125% year over year, as well as diversifying our client base by 32%.
We stand today, loud and proud of who we are, a living example that businesses can not only survive but thrive when all voices are respected and teams are empowered to work in this way.
We’re not done yet. We have extended our mission to other minority-owned businesses through our coworking accelerator, Knack Coworking. Knack Coworking aims to elevate all communities in business by providing equal access to enterprise-level services and advisory support most take for granted in areas such as marketing, IT, and recruiting. Knack Coworking is the place to launch and grow your business.
Reflecting on another remarkable year of learning and growth, we continue to be humbled by the incredible support of people like you—our friends, family, and client partners—who believe in and champion us, who hold us accountable to show up authentically, and who challenge us to continue to break barriers. As we head into 2020, we are even more determined to fulfill our purpose, inspiring greater equity and humanity in business so all communities have the opportunity to succeed.
XOXO
Catherine Bye, Mariah Lincoln, and the entire Knack Team

Inclusion is not just a line item on your corporate agenda As a gay woman, I am acutely (and often painfully) aware of all forms of biases (small and large) that exist in our culture – misogyny, homophobia,
