HYDRATION
❄️
In the winter I’m a big fan of tea for my hydration while touring. I find that I’m not motivated to drink cold water in the cold.
😎
But once spring conditions fully set in and especially once I start doing multi-day trips, this becomes my standard drinking vessels. The small Nalgene with a coozie can hold coffee, miso, or a dose of electrolytes. I can also throw it in a boot liner, sleeping bag, or my puffy with hot liquids to warm up those objects.
The collapsible 3 liter container is nice for those times when I find a good water source in the mountains, whether to share with friends or bring to camp so I don’t have to melt as much snow. And then, of course, it collapses down to whatever size I need for whatever tour I’m on and gets smaller with each sip, which also motivates me to keep drinking.
💧
How do you hydrate while touring?

Lodge trips! Yeah, the skiing is great and the food is amazing, but what I love most is that a group of people (often not knowing most of the others) choose to gather in these remote locations to live together for a week free from many of life’s distractions. During that time we eat together, play games together, and laugh, a lot … together. Sometimes we laugh because we decide a party shirt needs to be a muscle shirt!

Also, all you need is a shovel and a slope with snow to have a lot of fun!
