SBR hosts the 2026 Mohamed Jeylani Memorial Tournament

This July, we honor a life that touched so many. Mohamed Jeylani - a West Seattle Native, who played for West Seattle Wildcats, Seattle United and Highline College. He was a young man whose journey from Kenya to Seattle inspired everyone who watched him play.

We're bringing together 8 young adult teams to celebrate his memory the way he'd want - through the game he loved.

Saturday: Somali Bantu Rising attended the King County Youth Leadership Summit and had the privilege of meeting with King County Executive Girmay Zahilay Building relationships with county leadership is essential to ensuring our community’s voices are heard — and we showed up.

Sunday: Our youth were invited by the City of Seattle to participate in FIFA World Cup 2026 preparations here in Seattle, where we met Mayor Katie B. Wilson and were featured in a video representing our city ahead of one of the biggest events in the world.

Two days. Two major meetings. One clear message — the Somali Bantu community belongs in every room where Seattle’s future is being shaped.
