The monarch butterfly populations are extremely low, so we’re tryna get em’ high like back in the day 🌎
O.E (Ophryocystis Elektroscirrha) is a protozoan parasite that affects milkweed, the host plant of monarch butterflies where they lay & hatch their caterpillars eggs. O.E can spread by planting tropical non native milkweed out of it’s native habitat. So for my PNW folks ‘showy milkweed’ is the most common and look up your local region accordingly, now is the time to plant milkweed before the first frost 🌱
O.E. is also ‘Old English’ so the whole song is a double entendre 🤣
