United Airlines has unveiled a new Economy Plus seating concept that replaces the middle seat with a fixed shared table, giving window and aisle passengers more personal space and extra elbow room.

The new layout will debut on United’s Airbus A321XLR aircraft. Domestic flights are expected to begin this fall, with international routes following in early 2027.

If it rolls out as planned, United will become the first known U.S. airline to offer this type of seating.
