Open - then soften 🤍 Hollowbacks create space through the front body - the shoulders, spine, hip flexors. Forward folds help neutralize and integrate, lengthening the back body and calming the nervous system.

This is the balance. This is challenge and response, effort and release. This isn’t just going deeper, it’s knowing how to come back.

Whenever I move my body - whether in practice or for photos, instruction, art - I always prepare my body. I integrate, deepen and release. Swipe to see a few more hollowback variations and another counter pose I did at the end. 🤍

Balance 🤍 Challenging balance in new ways - I like to call this the floating flipped dog 🤍

When you repeat the same entry over and over, your body gets efficient which is good, but also specific - which isn’t ideal. It learns that exact pathway, that exact load, that exact orientation. But balance in real life (and in practice) isn’t predictable.

The moment you shift your weight differently, enter from a new angle, or flip your relationship to gravity, your system has to recalibrate. This is what keeps your proprioception sharp, your stabilizers responsive, and your coordination adaptable.

Repetition is important but equally important is resilience when trying new things. 🤍

I highly recommend grippy when attempting a floating flipped dog without a mat 🤍🤍

Powerful 🤎 It’s the last day of and we’re sharing a favorite shape that makes us feel strong and energized. I chose a few of my favorite poses that require an intense level of mobility to achieve. The power is built from the foundation. Consistency builds strength - presence builds connection.

Both of these shapes have been built over time. A balance of strength and flexibility. The bottom one - flat foot, flat hands - is particularly challenging for me. When I find that active mobility and get my foot to my head, I feel powerful. Like I’ve achieved something that feels impossible as I work towards it.

The most satisfying moments for me are those when I achieve something that feels so hard because I’ve worked hard to achieve it. That’s powerful. 🤎

Huge appreciation for for taking these photos and most of them for this challenge. 🤎🤎

Exploring lift and strength ♥️ It’s already day 5 of and we’re balancing on our arms/hands/forearms, depending on the variation.

I had a plan for arm balance day. I was going to flow through a series of arm balances that I practice pretty often and I feel very comfortable in. When I got to the dock, I started playing around with some forearm balance shapes I hadn’t practiced in ages - the toe grab pincha. Grabbing my toes is trickier for me than floating my foot in the air. It was fun to revisit these shapes. ♥️

Thanks for the fun day in rhe sunshine and for capturing these moments! ♥️🙏🏻
