It’s National Absinthe Day in the US, so I’m having a livestream on my YouTube channel at 3pm PST! Come join me for drinks and to celebrate Absinthe: the Green Goddess!
Nineteen years ago today, thanks to the efforts of my dear friend .a.breaux with his brand and many other wonderful people and entities, the US absinthe ban was lifted after 95 years! And in alignment with my friend , I haven’t just been celebrating one singular day, but this week to also acknowledge the lifting of the Swiss absinthe brand on March 1st of 2005.
It’s been a decade since I started posting absinthe reviews on my YouTube channel, and I still can’t believe where this journey has led me and the friends I’ve made along the way. I’ve become friends with the head of - who has been such a huge source of support, friendship, and education for the last decade.
I’ve gone to the historic where Lucid Absinthe Supérieure and are made. I’ve been to the absinthe capital of France in Pontarlier and to the birthplace of absinthe in the Val-de-Travers. I have met pioneers like Claude-Alain Bognon of who made absinthe even before the Swiss absinthe ban was lifted.
I was even inspired to release my own single because I was so inspired by absinthe, which not only allowed me to combine my two great loves, absinthe and opera, but also gave me the unbelievable opportunity to work with one of the most esteemed artists I’ve ever known, to create the album art for it.
It has also been a pleasure to befriend so many distillers along the way like Stefano Rossoni, , the female-founded , and so many others. Passing on knowledge to the general public has also been an immense privilege, telling people that no, absinthe has never been hallucinogenic, it’s not disgusting, and please don’t set it on fire! Friends don’t let friends burn absinthe, after all!
Indulge in your Goddess in a Glass today, mes amis! Have a moment to celebrate her today. 💚

Today, my reaction and analysis of the depiction of absinthe in ‘s is up on my YouTube channel! The intent behind this is coming from a place of love. It’s my sincerest wish that the creators of the show did just a little more research about absinthe and were a bit more sensitive about depicting a spirit that still has so much stigma in France.
I hope you enjoy this video and that it helps you think a little bit more before picking up just any brand of absinthe at the liquor store, and makes you think twice about engaging in the spread of misinformation about absinthe. Both of those things harm owners of legitimate absinthe brands like , , and

We are officially SOLD OUT for Bad Bar Good Opera at on December 6th! Thank you so much for your mind-blowing support for this show!
I’m so thrilled to perform with some incredible musicians like my wonderful voice teacher .gwen.barnes .m.keller and others for this fun, inclusive event for people to enjoy opera without judgment or the huge price tag.
One of the pieces that I’ll be singing is very dear, personal, and raw for me. “Sol adoré de la patrie” from Dom Sébastien is a mezzo-soprano aria from the last opera that my favorite composer Gaetano Donizetti wrote before he fell seriously ill and died a few years later.
This aria holds special significance to me and I will tell you about the night of the show before I perform it. Every aria has a background, a story to tell, feelings to express, and every singer worth their salt should find meaning and beauty in the arias they sing, even if it’s painful. It’s an artist’s job to transmute pain into art. We should also use art to protest against the atrocities in the world.
