Under Donald Byrd’s visionary artistic leadership since 2002, the organization has embarked on an exhilarating transformation that has attracted world-class dancers, produced some of the most avant-garde works in contemporary dance, and generated local and national praise. In addition to its Mainstage productions at The Moore Theatre, SDT launched in February 2006 its first STUDIO SERIES at the Madrona Dance Studios.

As one season comes to a close, another is just getting started. 🌿✨ The end of the school year always seems to arrive faster than expected!

Our All School Demonstration is just around the corner on June 13, and while our students are busy preparing to take the stage, many families are already asking the next big question:

☀️ What are the kids doing this summer?

At The School of Spectrum Dance Theater, summer is filled with movement, creativity, friendship, and fun. From themed camps for young dancers and dance explorers to musical theater, drama, hip-hop, ballet, jazz, and intensive training opportunities for aspiring artists, there's something for every age and experience level.

Whether your child wants to spend a week saving the planet in our Ferngully-inspired Dance Day Camp, explore a variety of dance styles in Dance Samples, perform in Alice in Wonderland, or dive deeper into their training through our Summer Intensive, we're ready to keep them inspired all summer long.

Summer programs begin June 29, and enrollment is now open.

Thank you for joining us for The Insidious Trilogy.

To everyone who attended, supported, donated, volunteered, collaborated, and helped bring this production to life—we are deeply grateful. This work would not exist without the many people who believe in the importance of live performance, courageous storytelling, and spaces where artists and audiences can gather together in reflection and dialogue.

Thank you to our extraordinary Company dancers, production team, guest artists, volunteers, donors, and community supporters who gave their time, energy, artistry, and care throughout this process. Bringing together Strange Fruit, Grief, and Targeted as one complete trilogy was years in the making, and it was only possible through our collective work!

Thank you for showing up, engaging with the work, and helping us continue to create and sustain bold, contemporary performance in Seattle.

More soon!
