The Westport Longboard Contest is back and it’s this weekend! From raffles to laughs to competition, thanks to the fine folks at The Surf Shop in Westport, it’ll be a welcome return. Come join and hopefully put your name in the mix for a fun weekend. From the Junior divisions to the Adult divisions, we’d love to see a few more participants…especially the Keiki with Adult division (which might be the best heats of the year). I’ll be judging with some friends and we look forward to seeing you!

Westport Longboard Classic | The Surf Shop Saturday & Sunday, September 14/15, 2024 marks the rebirth of the Westport Longboard Classic! We at The Surf Shop are thrilled to bring back this special event!

Canlis Glass assistant needed!
I’m looking for a few assistants for an installation coming up.

Qualities:
-Physically capable/able to lift/move/transport building materials, scaffolding, and glass.
-Easy to work with, patient, and willing to learn.
-No experience needed (I will show/teach everything).
Time needed:
-Approximately 2 weeks — 1/23 - 2/6 (possibly longer).
Location:
-Seattle/Mercer Island.

When Mark and Brian approached me to help them with their new centerpieces at Canlis Restaurant, without hesitation I was on board. Functional work is something I have spent countless hours on but is also something I’ve willingly moved away from.
Knowing Canlis restaurant’s pursuit of visual and experiential perfection, it was the perfect reintroduction.
From brainstorming form to scale to color samples to coming to a final object, I couldn’t be happier with how these pieces and the restaurant’s new table settings turned out. You’ll have to go for yourself to see them, but here’s a few shots of the process over the final few days in the hotshop.

Had a great time working on this project. Working with like minded family members is always something I’ll appreciate and welcome. As is reminding myself what it’s like to work symmetrically.
