At the heart of Jordan Kee's practice is a free associative process. His paintings don't immediately need to justify themselves. They exist freely, where meaning comes from seemingly no meaning.

Chatwin Arts is pleased to present Unearthed: Paintings by Jordan Kee and Sculpture by Tom Small.

This dual show expands upon last month's show of Tom Small's fluid stone sculptures, incorporating an additional series of surrealist paintings by Jordan Kee that transport us to an otherworldly in-between realm, not quite here or there. Each painting is layered with oil and sand, building up a thick, rough, grainy texture, as though the paint was drawn straight from the soil beneath us.

Unearthed opens Thursday, May 7, 5-9pm.
