In the early 40s, Hank and Shirley Edelson owned a small grocery store on the SW corner of 22nd Ave and East Union Street. Shirley's father owned a dry cleaners at the south end of the same building where the meat department currently resides. Over the next 20 years, with the growth of the neighborhood, Leschi Market went through an extensive remodel in 1967 to increase the size of the store to wh

We have a new 2025 Leschi Cellars Rosé! Made entirely out of Cabernet Franc, this dry, crisp, and refreshing rosé is perfect year-round but will really hit the spot on these warm and sunny days. Whether you're picnicking, pairing with a meal, or perching poolside, this rosé will pop with flavor. We've got it chilled and ready to go here at Leschi Market!

Dear Friends and Customers,

I don’t usually send messages like this, but today I have no choice.

This morning, without any notice, construction began directly in front of Leschi Market as part of the project to rebuild the Leschi South Marina. The parking lot was closed, access to the store is already being restricted, and we have been told this may continue through the summer. We are also being told that some of the already limited parking directly in front of our store will be removed temporarily as part of this work.

For us, this is not just an inconvenience. It is a crisis.

Leschi Market has been serving this community since 1948. For nearly 80 years, and across four generations, we have been here for you. Today, we are asking you to be here for us.

Summer is what keeps our doors open for the rest of the year. With parking gone and access limited, and now the temporary loss of additional front of store parking, we are facing a situation that could put us out of business.

This affects more than just one store. We have about thirty employees who depend on this business to support themselves and their families. Other nearby businesses, including BluWater Bistro and others in the Leschi area, are facing the same reality.

We understand that rebuilding the Leschi South Marina is an important investment in our community and waterfront. However, the way this phase has been implemented, without notice and without a clear plan to preserve access, is putting long standing local businesses at serious risk.

We are asking the City to pause this portion of the project until a workable solution can be found that allows construction to move forward while keeping local businesses accessible.

WE NEED YOUR VOICE

Please take one minute right now to send an email to the City. It truly can make the difference.

I am a customer of Leschi Market and part of the Leschi community.

I am very concerned about the project to rebuild the Leschi South Marina and the impact it is having on Leschi Market and surrounding businesses.

Closing parking and restricting access during the summer, along with the temporary loss of front of store parking, puts these long standing businesses at serious risk of closing.

This project began without notice, and I am asking that it be paused so the City can work with local businesses on a solution that allows them to remain open.

Thank you.

Every email matters. The more people who speak up, the more likely the City is to act.

Thank you for standing with us.
