“Hi, I was calling to urge District Attorney Berry to immediately certify Jonathan Alcantara's U-Visa certification. This certification is routine and was established as a way to encourage immigrant victims of crimes to speak out. By refusing to sign this certificate the DA is sending a strong message that immigrants cannot trust our local police. I urge DA Berry to reconsider this move, and to immediately sign Jonathan's U-Visa certification. Signing just states that Jonathan was in fact the victim of a crime, and that he cooperated with law enforcement.”
