Across Africa, women are the backbone of agriculture, yet many still face barriers to owning and controlling the land they cultivate. During a recent Tanager and Landesa webinar, experts explored why securing women's land rights is fundamental to increasing agricultural productivity, improving household nutrition, and building more resilient agrifood systems.

The webinar also showcased practical lessons from Kenya and Tanzania, demonstrating that community-led solutions, stronger land governance, and strategic partnerships are essential to turning women's land rights into lasting impact.

In this interview, Esther Mwaura Muiru, Global Advocacy Director for the Stand For Her Land initiative at Landesa, shares how advancing women’s land rights can strengthen resilience, improve food security, and support sustainable management of natural resources.
