Season + Cycle
02/23/2023
The root cause of most menstrual health challenges come from the dis-ease created by living out of alignment with our natural, cyclical rhythm.
Cyclical living is at its essence living our lives in alignment with the natural cycles within and around us.
It’s a lifestyle, a way of moving through the world, a daily practice, a guiding force.
There's nothing more natural.
We are surrounded by cycles - the seasons, lunar cycle and lifecycle - but for today's post we're going to be exploring cyclical living through the lens of the menstrual cycle.
Despite having inhabited them our whole lives, our bodies can often feel very foreign to us.
This is especially true if you're a person with a period, because our hormones and body are constantly changing, which is okay...in fact it's completely normal, but in today's modern and linear world there's little support or acknowledgment of this reality.
We're expected to just ignore it all and carry on. Which results in us being disconnected from our natural rhythm, from our bodies and from ourselves.
It’s this disconnect that leads to us feel disoriented and frustrated daily.
It's this disconnect that creates dis-ease within us.
And it's this dis-ease that leads to so many of the symptoms and challenges we experience as people with periods - PMS, cramps, mood swings and menstrual health related conditions such as PCOS and PMDD.
As cyclical beings in a linear world, understanding and reconnecting with our menstrual cycles is the key to healing our period problems, finally feeling at peace in our bodies.
Cyclical living isn't about doing more.
It's about being. Being more true to yourself.
It's not about making big, sweeping changes to your life.
It's a million little moments when you include your female reality in the choices you make everyday.
And we can begin anytime.
By becoming curious about your cycle, taking time to learn about it, and choosing what areas of your life you want to start making room for your female reality in.
One of the best ways to start is syncing the foods you cook/eat with your menstrual cycle.
March 7-9th I’m hosting a free 3-part mini series showing you how (link in bio)

A sprinkling of spring…
Our inner spring (aka the week or so after your period) is a great time to add green & “young foods” to your meals, my go to? Pea shoot micro greens 🌱
Fun fact: the rise in estrogen we experience around this time in our cycle makes it a wonderful time for exploring new ideas & places…whether in person or at the breakfast table.

3 ways I’ll be keeping my holiday co-host stress at bay and hormones happy tomorrow…
🍁 2-mins to myself first thing in the morning (1-minute of quiet to ground before the day begins plus 1-minute to check in with myself and my cycle on my cycle chart)
🍁 A few of my go to blood sugar balancing hacks (not skipping breakfast, ACV tonic 10-mins before eating plus a nice walk in nature …ideally while other people do the dishes 😊)
🍁 Stretching throughout the day…and the kitchen 🙆🏽♀️
🍁 Being present in conversations with loved ones (near and far) ❤️❤️
🍁 Throughly enjoying a big slice of pumpkin pie (in the oven as I write 🥧) and festive mug of mulled wine (because at the end of the day, it’s all about balance)!!!
What helps you stay balanced during the holidays?

Is your menstrual cycle a haunted house?
For most women I mentor, when we start working together they view and experience their menstrual cycle a lot like a haunted house.
1. Shrouded in mystery
2. Full of unwanted surprises
3. Easy to get lost in
And it’s no wonder.
Most of us were taught to fear, hide and feel ashamed of our periods...but little else.
So of course they’re mysterious and a bit spooky and scary some times, especially when they catch us off guard.
Add to that the pace of our modern world and way we live our day-to-day lives is often in direct opposition to our natural, cyclical rhythm as people with periods. Causing dis-ease in our bodies, minds and spirits.
Dis-ease that leads to so many of the periods problems and PMS symptoms that are common today (but common doesn’t mean normal AND we don’t have to settle for suffering).
So many of the women I work come to me in a state of utter frustration. Overwhelmed by all the information out there and feeling like they’ve tried everything or been told time and time again that “everything looks normal” even though they know it’s not.
They feel lost in the labyrinth of their cycle, returning again and again each and every month to the same, symptom filled starting point.
But here’s the thing, and the good news!
It doesn’t have to be this way.
You can transform the way you see and experience your menstrual cycle with Menstrual Cycle Awareness (MCA).
I’ve experienced the transformation first hand and see it time and time again with the women I mentor…learning and incorporating MCA into your daily life will take your haunted house cycle and turn it into a cozy cottage by helping you:
1. Turns on the lights, AKA create awareness so you can see what you’re working with
2. Make a map, figure out where all those creepy clowns are hiding so you can be prepared…or better yet avoid them!
3. Do some redecorating. Once you know what you’re working with, this is where the fun begins!
Ready to take the first step towards transforming your cycle experience?
That’s exactly what I’ll help you do in next week at my free workshop:
Chart Your Cycle. Change Your Life.
