Urban Family’s response is holistic and rooted in community. We build a village around youth and families using our integrated approach grounded in:

- The 24-Hour Clock to support healthy life rhythms
- Radical Belonging to ensure cultural identity and inclusion
- CBT/SEL practices to support emotional regulation and resilience
- Family stabilization supports long-term transformation.

This approach helps us create an environment where everyone in our community feels safe, connected, and cared for.

The reality: Community violence in Seattle, particularly gun violence, is deeply rooted in disinvestment, systemic racism, and social isolation. These issues don’t impact all neighborhoods equally. In 2024, while Black residents made up just 7% of King County’s population, they represented over 45% of shooting victims. Nearly 60% of all shootings occurred in the Central District and South Seattle, including Skyway—areas Urban Family proudly calls home. The pain is concentrated, and so is our mission. We don’t just observe these realities; we live them. Our team brings lived experience from the very zip codes where harm persists, and our work starts right at the point of crisis, addressing root causes head-on. 🖤

The Root Causes We Confront Daily.
We bear witness to the roots of community violence daily.

Our Aki middle school students had an amazing opportunity at the Student Youth Forum at the University of Washington! 🐺 With Seattle’s new mayor, Katie Wilson, in attendance, they passionately advocated for the changes they want to see in our community. Their voices are powerful, and together, they’re shaping a brighter future!

Creating healthy transitions from youth to young adulthood, from crisis to care, one youth at a time. Our mission is to ensure that every young person—especially those left, lost, and unloved—receives the consistent support they need to move from crisis to care, disconnection to purpose, and from surviving to thriving. 💖✨

In South Seattle and King County, our youth face daunting challenges—chronic violence, systemic racism, educational disengagement, and family instability. These aren’t isolated issues; they reflect deep-rooted inequities and generations of trauma. Without supportive mentors and healing resources, many find themselves caught in cycles of harm and disconnection. Let’s work together to change this narrative. 💪🏽✨
