Jazzology began as a duo with Lloyd Smith on guitar and Bill Butler on sax. We are now a four-piece and have added John Schwartz on drums and Walt Kerr on keyboards and bass. However, due to recent events and work schedules, Bill and Walt are no longer able to remain with Jazzology. We wish them the best and, of course, if things in their lives change, it would be great to have these two talented
individuals enhancing the Jazzology experience again. We play pop tunes, jazz standards, contemporary R&B and NW rock and roll. It’s all groove music to us that’s fun for the audience to listen or dance to. We will entertain you because we all love what we do! And we know you will too! We have played at The Sound Check in Lynnwood, Hope Hall in Snoqualmie and various venues as well as private functions like the “Seattle Humane League Gala” in Seattle for the last couple years. We are not strictly a jazz band and the reason for our name is because we incorporate soul and rhythm & blues into all our music. We can play it straight or add our own take on the music to give it the Jazzology touch! You’ll love our artistic stylings as much as we do! Update: Jazzology news July 30th 2017
We are now in the process of working on a NEW Jazzology! John and I are currently able to perform as a duo and have our antenna up for a new Saxophonist or other ax-bearer which would provide depth. We’ve got all the groove, swing and vocal numbers we’ve always had. We are remain totally “gig capable” and adaptable to the venue. One venue may want swing, R&B, high energy jazz, and bebop while another may want soft, dinner music. Keep looking for updates to what we’re currently doing!
