#73 "King of Diamonds" - Motopony

In the summer of 2011 I went on a west coast tour with motopony, with the hope that there would be time to shoot some Ballard Sessions along the way. I went into it naive about how grueling life is on the road, and before I knew it we were headed back northward and we hadn’t shot a thing. Finally, on a day when tensions in the van were at their peak, we stopped for a much-needed break along this river somewhere in Oregon or northern California. The sun was too bright for shooting and it’s shaky because I was trying to not fall over in the river, but it’s still one of my favorites because it reminds me of how fun and exciting it felt being on my first real “rock ‘n roll” tour.

My friend Erin Rae introduced me to these fine folks when I roadtripped through Nashville a couple of years ago. A trip back is long overdue, hoping to make it happen this autumn!
