Here’s a different way to look at something we all run into. In moments of tension or disagreement, there’s often a quiet choice sitting underneath it all… do I want to be right, or do I want peace? Not as a judgment, just as something to notice. You can feel when the energy shifts, when the pull to explain, defend, or prove yourself starts to rise.

One way to see it is like a rope being thrown your way. An invitation to argue, to engage, to pull back. Most of us grab it without even thinking, and suddenly we’re in a tug of war that goes nowhere. Back and forth, each person pulling harder, trying to win. But there’s another option that doesn’t get talked about as much… you can choose not to grab the rope. You can let it fall.

That doesn’t mean you don’t have a perspective or that you’re backing down. It just means you’re choosing not to enter the struggle. There’s a kind of freedom in that. So the next time you feel that rope being tossed your way, pause for a moment and ask yourself… how can I stay rooted in peace here, even if they’re not?
