Seattle City Light
Seattle City Light is a publicly owned utility dedicated to exceeding our customers’ expectations in producing and delivering environmentally responsible, safe, low cost and reliable power. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to about 750,000 Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.

It's National Skilled Trades Day! Today, we're celebrating the 556 skilled trades professionals at Seattle City Light. From the hydroelectric machinists maintaining our powerful dams to the auto mechanics keeping our fleet on the road, their expertise and hard work keep our city running.
With a growing need for skilled workers, now is a great time to explore a career in the trades. We had a fantastic time connecting with future leaders at the Washington Women in Trades Fair last week and are excited about the next generation of trades professionals.

Did you know City Light's Wildlife Research Grants Program has been supporting regional conservation efforts since 1995? Woodland Park Zoo's Robert Long and City Light's Ron Tressler help us close out Earth Month with a look into the zoo's Cascades Carnivore Monitoring Program. Their research is partly funded by these grants and helps us better support animal populations as climate change impacts habitats.
