Some moments feel too big to put into words.

Right now, our team is in Berlin, Germany, capturing audio for a podcast called The Future of Our Former Democracy with our client, More Equitable Democracy.

It’s a moment that feels deeply relevant. Germany is heading into a critical election while the far right gains traction—echoes of history that the city is so intentional about remembering. Walking past campaign signs, then standing at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Monument to Homosexuals Persecuted Under the N**i Regime, and the Brandenburg Gate—all within blocks of each other—was a stark reminder of how the past informs the present.

We are all feeling this strange sense of..well... I don’t know if lucky is the right word, but something close to it—grateful, maybe, or simply aware of the weight of getting to do work that aligns with our values and collides with this moment in time.

The Future of Our Former Democracy 09/18/2024

We have a really fun new history & politics podcast I want to share! It’s called The Future of our Former Democracy. 🇮🇪🇺🇸

Tina Nole and several other Larj Media peeps recorded a lot of it in Northern Ireland, which might prompt you to ask “What does Northern Ireland have to do with American Democracy?”

Well, it turns out the story of how Northern Ireland overcame the Troubles by implementing a new electoral system might just be a blueprint for how the US might change our own divisive two-party system!

This is one story told over 7 episodes. Episode 1 drops next week, but here’s the trailer:

The Future of Our Former Democracy Northern Ireland’s history and politics offer a blueprint for how the US can implement a better electoral system, especially in the wake of rising polarization and political violence. Developed in partnership with Larj Media and More Equitable Democracy.

OK bear with us here, I think you'll be surprised. 🤓 🧠🎙️

We're launching a new podcast and it's both super timely for election season, and it's brainy in a fun way, especially if you're a history buff, or just flat out tired of listening to pundits pontificating about polls and swing states.

George Cheung and Colin Cole go deep into Northern Ireland (and Larj Media joined them there), to discover how Northern Ireland was able to overcome the Troubles by changing their electoral system. Their story can help the US figure out how it's possible for the US to shake our divisive 2-party system too.
