Pilates was a person. He built a fitness system of more than five hundred unique exercises. ๐Ÿคฉ

Most people hear "Pilates" and picture one reformer, one type of class, and one type of body. The classical system is considerably larger than that and good for ALL types of bodies! ๐Ÿ’ชJoseph Pilates developed hundreds of exercises across a full range of apparatus, each piece designed to challenge and support all bodies differently, as unique as you are. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

At Kinesia Pilates, our instructors are certified through the Romana's Pilates International Instructor Training Program, the classical lineage carried forward by Romana Kryzanowska, ๐Ÿ’– who trained directly with Joseph Pilates for many years and was his protegee. Our studio is equipped with the full range of apparatus, using Gratz Pilates equipment, widely considered the gold standard for classical work.๐Ÿฅ‡

๐ŸŒŸWhy does the lineage matter? Because comprehensive training teaches an instructor to look at your body, understand what it is actually doing, and adjust in real time. Not run you through a sequence.
That is the difference between doing Pilates and being taught Pilates๐Ÿ‘

Curious which apparatus you would start on? Send us a message and we will walk you through it. ๐Ÿ“ฒ

There is no parking lot. There is a very good two-block walk.๐Ÿš๐Ÿšถโ€โžก๏ธ

๐Ÿ˜…We will be honest with you about something small.

Kinesia Pilates sits in Pioneer Square, which means street parking and a garage two blocks away. ๐Ÿš˜We know that is not the most convenient thing about us.

But here is what nobody tells you about those two blocks. ๐Ÿ˜ŠYou pass cafes and bookstores. โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ“šYou pass art galleries. ๐ŸŽจYou pass old brick buildings with more character than most of Seattle put together. And by the time you reach our door, something has already started to slow down.๐Ÿ’–

Then you step inside, and the ceilings are high, the light is soft, and the noise of the city stops at the threshold.๐Ÿ˜Œ

๐Ÿ™Two blocks turns out to be exactly the right amount of transition between your day and your session.

Some of our clients have told us they would not want it any other way.๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ˜ปTell us in the comments: what is the best cafe or gallery on the walk to our door? We are always looking for a new recommendation. ๐Ÿ‘‡

I am so fortunate to have my own mother, Gay Marcontell, working in the studio as a teacher. Growing up she taught me self-reliance and to take pride in my work.

As a teacher Gay has a keen eye for alignment and laser focus on connecting with who she is working with and refining their technique. Gay has been teaching Pilates for over 25 years and recently added MELT level 2 to her practice.
