My mother-in-law called and said there was water in the basement.

By the time I got there, the family had already shut the water off and started pulling back the carpet. The wall was open, but we still had to figure out what caused the leak.

It turned out to be a tiny pinhole leak in an old galvanized pipe. Amazing how something so small can cause so much damage.

Since the wall was already open, I decided to do more than just fix the leak. We upgraded the old gate valve, installed a new Woodford Model 25 frost-free hose bib, and rebuilt everything with PEX.
