Capcom has teased the possibility of a future Resident Evil game set in Japan for the first time in the franchise’s history.

In a recent interview with Japanese outlet Futaman, Resident Evil Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa revealed that the idea has been discussed within the development team for years.

“Since the development team is primarily based in Japan, I think every member has given it some thought. While Japan hasn’t appeared as a game setting so far, it might make an appearance at some point in the future.”

Resident Evil has never had a mainline game set in its home country.
