Never stop attacking SONY!!

According to Moore's Law Is Dead, some third-party game studios are reportedly paying Sony thousands of dollars to have their games featured on PlayStation's official social media channels at specific times.

The report claims some developers are frustrated because those sponsored posts are being flooded with negative comments and Community Notes from players unhappy with PlayStation's recent decisions.

It also says this could become a bigger issue for future marketing campaigns, with GTA 6 cited as one example if the backlash continues.

He's absolutely right. The reason Playstation has the audacity to announce no discs from 2028 in a 3 para blog is because there's no real competition to challenge and offer an alternative to the gamers. It has become a one man show.🤷🏼‍♂️

Former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden says he doesn’t want to see Xbox lose its competitive edge, despite years of rivalry with Microsoft.

Reflecting on the PS3 and Xbox 360 era, Layden said the competition between PlayStation and Xbox pushed both companies to improve, ultimately benefiting gamers and the industry as a whole.

🗣️ “Everybody had team blue or team green, whichever it was, that they were supporting. And it was so vibrant that it elevated the entire gaming industry.”

Layden added that having a single dominant platform is unhealthy for gaming because it reduces the incentive to innovate. He hopes Xbox can regain its momentum and once again become a strong competitor.

Interesting

Former PlayStation Store SVP says Sony doesn't set PlayStation Store game prices. According to him, publishers decide pricing, meaning Sony does not have a monopoly over game prices.

If you’re mad about digital prices, complain to publishers, not Sony. Sony has no say in 3rd-party store prices

$457 million isn't anything to a $122 billion company. Theyll just pay it and move on. Nothing more than lawyers and corporations j*rking eachother off again while the customers get screwed.🥲

Sony’s decision to end physical PlayStation game releases after January 2028 is now being cited in a major lawsuit against the company.

The lawsuit, which seeks $457 million in damages, argues that Sony can no longer claim players can avoid high PlayStation Store prices by purchasing physical copies.
Once new PlayStation games stop releasing on disc, the PlayStation Store will effectively become the primary way to buy new PlayStation titles.

Law professor Daniel Wallach said the move has "essentially destroyed" Sony's defense, arguing the company can no longer point to physical discs as a meaningful alternative for consumers.
