On this MLK Jr. Day, as we approach 250 years as a nation, we honor Dr. King's vision and reflect on the long journey toward realizing America's founding ideals.

For nearly two and a half centuries, people of color and immigrants have been essential to building this country, often while being denied the very rights they were helping to secure for others. From those who built our infrastructure under bo***ge, to the waves of immigrants who fueled our innovation and growth, to the civil rights leaders who held America accountable to its own Constitution, these contributions have shaped everything we are.

Dr. King understood that our democracy is only as strong as our commitment to its principles, equal protection under law, checks and balances, and the rights that belong to every person. He knew that progress requires both courage and vigilance, both hope and accountability.

As we mark 250 years, we celebrate how far we've come and recognize how much work remains. The best way to honor Dr. King's legacy is to stay engaged, to protect the rights he fought for, and to keep pushing toward that more perfect union.
