Here is another track from my Arbor Heights Christmas Album (shameless plug – available on Bandcamp): https://tomcollier.bandcamp.com

The melody of "In The Bleak Midwinter" was composed in 1906 by Gustav Holst, set to an 1872 poem by Christina Rossetti. A slightly different melody by Harold Darke was set to Rossetta's poem in 1909, although I used Holst's melody on my recording. Over the years, "In The Bleak Midwinter" has been sited by musicians and vocalists as one of the most beautiful Christmas carols of all time. I recorded my instrumental version in 2023 utilizing electric vibes, marimba, piano, synthesizer, and a Native American metal tongue drum.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!

This week's audio/video recording is from 1999: "The Very Thought of You", an American Songbbok standard by Ray Noble. I played all of the instruments and was thinking about what my next recording project my be. However, this track didn't fit with any of my albums, but it works as a "single". I have to thank Dave Grusin for a chord sequence I "stole" in the last refrain of "The Very Thought of You".
