Here we can see water damage at the base of the wall in the basement. Basements in nature have higher humidity levels because they are underground. A dehumidifier is always recommended in basements to control the humidity level.

Here are some common problems we see with chimneys on almost every inspection. Cracks on the chimney crown, deteriorated clay flu, loose bricks and improper flashing. All these defects will allow moisture intrusion into the home and will get worse during the winter freeze and thaw cycles. Make sure you check your chimney for any of these defects as they get worse with time!
