Scranton has a history of speaking up when wealth & power overplay their hand in attempt to exploit the common working individual. Dating back to the coal mining days, there has been an awareness about people working themselves to exhaustion, generating wealth for people who throw them mere crumbs. As time passes, the phrase "Work hard and you'll be successful" is becoming an insult to those who run themselves into the ground and STILL can't keep up. And when you have the nerve to point out that things aren't quite lining up, you're told to "work harder". There is a sense of pride and fulfillment that comes from pulling your own weight through life. The question is, how does one climb the ladder when the ladder is being taken away by the ones who already have it all?
