Last night was peaceful. The sun was just below the horizon, leaving a soft glow in the distance. The heat of the day had diminished to a comfy refreshing warmth. String lights hung from the trees, accenting the aesthetic forged by the crackling campfire. Fireflies floated around like quiet, gentle fireworks, dotting the air with glittery sparks. Soft, uplifting songs about love and life from the 70's were playing over the portable speaker, warming our hearts. Then I saw it, sitting weightlessly on the bark of a massive tree. It's silhouette was outlined by the glow of a hanging light bulb--a spotlight--while it's long delicate front legs slowly stretched out, waving trance-like through the magnolia scented air. I felt at peace as I admired the beauty of it all. And for that moment, those shining few seconds where I stepped out of reality, I and the spider were no longer at odds.

💙
"Jackson’s Song" is a young man’s journey from brokenness to redemption.
💙
Jackson believed he would never be able to beat the demons of doubt, fear, and insecurity that controlled his life. He chose to end the pain in the only way he thought possible. It was the wrong decision. His choice made things worse. Jackson was faced with more sorrow than he ever thought possible. He was up against a trial that no one--especially a teenager--should have to face. Thankfully he didn’t have to do it alone. Jackson met a small group of people who breathed hope, faith, and--most of all--acceptance, into his life. During this healing journey, Jackson learned how to accept himself, and how to help others who were also suffering from mental illness.
