The Chef is cooking up something special for this year's Longest Day 24 hour adventure race! The course is coming together, and as much as we were sad to see winter end, we are thrilled to have conditions returning for course scouting.
Come join us in the eastern Adirondacks in late July for a USARA Regional Qualifier and an Adventure Racing World Series North America Series Race!

Can't believe I didn't add this important info to yesterday's announcement of the 2026 NYARA Fools' ROGAINE:
Big upgrade in the maps for this one. We are now using the more robust Caltopo maps, with much more detail than our 2024 and 2025 maps, showing more water features, much more accurate, previously unmapped old trails, and 10' contour lines! -Dan
ANNOUNCING!!!... Yes, the annual NYARA Fools' ROGAINE returns in 2026!
I finally got the permit!... Save the date: Sunday March 29, 2026. Once again in North-Central NJ. 10-Hour event. The 2024 venue did not allow for the classic ROGAINE format, so we had to conduct it as a big loop "trek" with a few ROGAINE-ish sections along the way. Last year's venue restrictions forced us to do it as 3 smaller ROGAINE segments connected by a mandatory, marked route between them. This year it will be a full-on, wide open ROGAINE--but with a few surprise nav choice challenges how to get around the whole megilla.
This one is going to be a doozie! The most challenging, most interesting, most surprising, most scenic, and Yes, most FUN! of the 3 that I have designed and directed.
Most of the course is in wooded sections of NJ that have never before been used for any AR, orienteering, trail running, or mountain biking event. In fact, very few hard-core hikers even know they exist as options to be explored.
This one will probably be the rockiest in the quarter century history of this event. Lots of rocks. Big rocks. ENORMOUS rocks. Rocks on top of rocks. Did I mention rocks?... There will be times you may think you are in the Catskills or Adirondacks. If you try to clear the course, there will be a few times you may WISH you were in the Catskills or Adirondacks!
Stay tuned for registration... Opening soon.

We can only imagine the hootin' and hollerin' happening in the Scottish Highlands right now as NYARA's Megan Moir and Shari-berry Hymes take on the Itera lite expedition race. An early "là breith sona" to Megan as she enjoys her pre-50th birthday adventure (race) this week! You can track NYARA-Ubuntu at Itera's live tracking.
