The History of BPW-Schenectady
In 1927, a small group of working women met at the Hotel Van Curler (now Schenectady County Community College) to discuss the establishment of a Business and Professional Women's Club in Schenectady. It was their desire to promote women in business and the professions, to foster their educational advancement, and to improve and aid their community. Inspired by Jess

What a Wonderful Evening of Sisterhood, Creativity & Connection!
Last night, members of the Schenectady BPW gathered for a fun and memorable evening creating our own stoneware soup bowls together. There was plenty of laughter, creativity, conversation, and most importantly, the opportunity to strengthen the bonds of sisterhood that make our organization so special.
As we painted, shared stories, and encouraged one another, we were reminded that BPW is about so much more than meetings. It’s about building relationships, supporting one another, and creating a community where women can connect, grow, and thrive together.
A special thank you to everyone who attended and to the Studio for Arts & Crafts for guiding us through the process. We can’t wait to see our finished bowls and use them at our upcoming Frugal Repast!
This evening was a perfect example of our theme:
Sisterhood is Our Superpower
Together we lift each other up, support each other’s dreams, and empower one another to be the best versions of ourselves.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. If you’re looking for a group of women who support, encourage, and inspire one another, we’d love to have you join Schenectady BPW!
P.S. We love welcoming family and friends! Your significant other, children, and other family members are always welcome to join us for these activities.
