This week we made tacos for Cinco de Mayo! 🇲🇽

Tacos in Mexico are soft, corn-tortilla based, and different from US hard-shell versions. These chefs at kneaded their own dough made from masa, pressed each one, cooked each and every one and filled it with chef-marinated carne asada.

Did you know? The celebrations on the fifth of May commemorates the Mexican army’s unexpected victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is celebrated primarily in Puebla and in the United States.

The United States first celebrated it in California as a way to honor the Mexican-American shared heritage and an expression of unity during the Civil War. Fast forward to today, the holiday has been commercialized in the US with lots of tasty deals at restaurants and an excuse to have a get together and have fun!

In Puebla, Mexico, where the holiday originates, the traditional dish is mole poblano!
