On Passovers it was my Mema and great aunts who huddled in the kitchen to make homemade gefilta fish, matzo ball soup, and chopped liver. On Thanksgiving it was Granny, Mom, and a colony of aunts who covered the kitchen table in deviled eggs, macaronis, giblet gravy, sweet potato souffle, and banana pudding (just to name a few). My father once had me put on a plane and flown to Atlanta just have dinner with he and my mom at a 5 star restaurant and my mother would hold Sukkot dessert parties that had buffet tables 12 feet long draped in every kind of confectionery goodness you can imagine. Recently my family has presented with several different health issues. My mother has a genetic liver condition and now planters facetious which requires specific diet and weight loss. My brother has developed type II diabetes, and the hardest of all to understand is my beautiful niece who is only 12 years old is suffering from improper nutrition and is on the cusp of developing type II diabetes herself. Unfortunately they are not always as willing as me to venture out on eating habit changes, but I am little by little changing their minds. I just want to say before I tell you about this page, that although my niece is only 12 years old, and she doesn't have the means to control the grocery shopping for the home she lives in, I am floored by her effort to make healthy choices. She certainly doesn't receive the encouragement that she needs in the environment in which she is around 90% of the time. She is bullied at school by other children who are smaller than she is, but I can guarantee you that her heart and will outweighs them 10-1. They are not going to be quality human beings and parents should raise their children better. They are the cruelest ones of us all. I will be posting meal prep options, live cooking videos and clips, recipes, and occasional cheat treats. It's important to remember that when you work hard to eat right, you deserve a little treat sometimes. You cant always limit yourself. that will set you up for failure. And since I hate dieting just as I'm sure most of you do, things will be tasty like they should be. Let's get started!
